I had the pleasure of working with an incredible plastic surgery team lead by Dr. Samuel Lin. I’ve had three previous surgeries, including an initial breast reconstruction and two revisions done at a different hospital. All three surgeries left me unpleased with the results. Last summer I made the decision to have septoplasmy. I am an active 55 yo woman and was struggling breathing through my nose – I was a mouth breather, especially when I was sleeping. It was a lifestyle choice but I canceled it three times because I was nervous. I had heard it was a difficult recovery but the final decision came after a hike last summer where I was so restricted through my nostrils and was panting terribly. I had enough. I have my surgery on 8/5/22 and then entire staff at Dr. Lina was amazing, as was the hospital staff. It was still pandemic restrictions so I was alone but everyone was attentive and informative. Surgery went well. But I am not going to lie. The first week after is terrible. When they said “you will be uncomfortable”, it’s an understatement. You can’t breathe through nose, must sneeze with mouth open (for a month), had to sleep upright for two weeks and I was just uncomfortable. I was a healthy fit woman and so I thought I would sail through and be back working from home in a few days. No. I needed a full week off and for the first four was extremely uncomfortable. It was pain (after first couple days). Just extreme discomfort. I went back after a week to get my splints out and immediately felt better. I continued with the nasal irrigation, wasn’t taking any meds (only did for three days) but it was still slow recovery. I needed a good month until I felt better. I am now 6 months out and it was the best decision I made I don’t snore. I have full ope airways and it’s changed my world. I would highly recommend doing it but definitely have help and be ready to be very uncomfortable for a full 7-10 days. Once you get through that, you will be so happy Go for it!!! These photos are day of, two days post op and 10 days post op. One year later, I am feeling fantastic. I have full breathing capacity in both nostrils; no longer am a mouth breather (especially at night). I am a fitness instructor and this has been life changing. I highly recommend this procedure with Dr. Lin. He is caring, kind and obviously an amazing surgeon!

I hemmed and hawed for several years over whether to have my deviated septum corrected and finally went for it this year. On one hand, I wish I had done it sooner because it has been literally life changing – I can breathe, I sleep better, I have had fewer sinus issues and headaches. On the other hand, I am so glad I waited because I was able to work with Dr. Lin and his team, all of whom have been helpful and informative and, I believe, immensely talented. My recovery was surprisingly painless, with no need for painkillers beyond over the counter meds. I 100% attribute this to the skill and care of this team. Seriously, deeply, thank you all!

I had a really wonderful experience with Dr. Lin. In 2021 he gave me a full left mastectomy and he was very patient and gentle with me. He could tell I was scared and he answered every question and concern I had. This year 7 weeks ago he gave me an implant in my left breast as well as reducing my right breast for symmetry. I am very satisfied and will definitely return if I have any other plastic surgery needs.
